The House before it was knocked down.
The Outbuilding.

The house, with a substantial outbuilding, Les Vallées, is situated in the commune of Beauchêne in the Orne region of Normandy. It occupies an idyllic spot about 1km from the centre of the village, on a site of 42,000 m2. The site is surrounded by a stone wall, with a lake and river running through it. The photograph above shows the house last year. Since then the house has been knocked down and all that remains of it are some walls, the main chimney and the entrance door.

The house has been the family home of the present owner since 1723, and she ardently desires that it is restored. She has made enquiries and believes that a subsidy may be available for its restoration. Arrangements have been made to have the site cleaned up. At present it is overgrown with ferns and brambles.
